Ice Warning Systems

Ice Warning System

Throughout The Netherlands the IWS System comprises over 350 measuring stations, each of which measures the prevailing local road conditions. The weather stations were designed by Mierij Meteo for this specific application and supplied to Directorate-General of Public Works and Water Management in cooperation with experts in weather forecasting and installation techniques. The Ice Warning System provides 5 hours in advance warning of icy and slippery conditions. The Ice Warning System is installed in 1991 – 1993 and updated in 2006 – 2007.
